United Way Greater Triangle is supported by tens of thousands of individuals, and we believe it is our responsibility to ensure the community that supports us has a definitive voice in the organizations we partner with through funding. We believe this is what true community impact and community-centered philanthropy looks like.
 
Community Readers commit to virtually reading and reviewing 3-5 nonprofit applications (about 3-5 hours of volunteer time) between Monday, October 5 - Thursday, October 15, 2026.
 
By signing up to volunteer as a Community Reader, you will join hundreds of community members reviewing nonprofit applications from across the Greater Triangle.
 
Community readers must meet the following requirements:
  • Able to read and write in English
  • Live or work in Wake, Durham, Johnston, or Orange county
  • Have access to internet
