Throughout our funding process, we rely on the voices of community members to help us evaluate which organizations are driving impactful work forward in the community. United Way Greater Triangle is supported by tens of thousands of individuals, and we believe it is our responsibility to ensure the community that supports us has a definitive voice in the organizations we partner with through funding. We believe this is what true community impact and community-centered philanthropy looks like.
Community Readers commit to virtually reading and reviewing 3-5 nonprofit applications (about 3-5 hours of volunteer time) between Monday, October 5 - Thursday, October 15, 2026.
By signing up to volunteer as a Community Reader, you will join hundreds of community members reviewing nonprofit applications from across the Greater Triangle.
Community readers must meet the following requirements:
- Able to read and write in English
- Live or work in Wake, Durham, Johnston, or Orange county
- Have access to internet
